Congratulations, Sulu!

George Takei and his partner of 21 years, Brad Altman, are getting married!

So are Ellen DeGeneres and Portia DeRossi, but I'm biased toward geeks and geek-icons, so first mention went to George. Huge congratulations to George, Brad, Ellen, Portia, and all the other couples who are finally getting their special day!

And in random tidbits:

-Elaine talks about masturbating. Yay masturbating!

-It's World Vegetarian Week. Viva Tofurkey!

-When do the media care about a historically black university? Apparently, they care when the school graduates a white valedictorian.

-Action alert: An Arizona hospital is trying to deport a Honduran woman, even though she's a legal resident in the U.S., due to questions whether she will be able to pay her hospital bills. She went into a coma and kidney failure while delivering her newborn baby. Apparently, the Honduran hospital they want to send her to cannot, or will not, put her on dialysis. Last time I checked, kidney failure without dialysis equals death. So in essence, unless something is done, they're gonna murder this woman because her continued existence isn't profitable. A fund has been put in place to help with her expenses.

-Action alert 2: Send a letter to the Senate to restore affordable birth control to low-income and college-age women (Aherm, this includes me.)! All you have to do is fill in your info and hit "send." It didn't even take me a minute. I'm among the thousands of women who currently cannot afford birth control, so this one's personal to me. Please help out.

-There's an eco-friendly search engine now.

-Congrats (OK, and LOLs) to Hello Kitty, as Japan has made her their official tourism ambassador. She is the first fictional character to hold this position.

-You'll be glad to know road head is legal in Indiana! Whatta relief, eh?

-Proof the the president of Gambia is nutty as a loon.

-Happy birthday, Malcom X!

I'm so much of a geek that I squealed aloud at George Takei getting married to his partner. ^_^

I wouldn't celebrate too quick on the alternative nuptials. As this has happened before, and then taken away.

Let's see if CALI sticks to it, and allows it for longer than a few months.

Have an awesome memorial day weekend!

Missy.
